Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences

Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences (AIJHS) is the publication of Mardin Artuklu University and aims to disseminate effective applications, studies, and research in different fields of health sciences at national and international levels by transforming them into scientific publications and to contribute to the field of science.

Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences (AIJHS) provides a qualified area where academics in the fields of Medicine and Health Sciences will have the opportunity to publish and share their scientific studies and benefit from it as a resource. Our journal accepts academic, scientific, and research-based articles (research articles, reviews, case reports, letters to the editor) related to all fields of health sciences for consideration. The studies to be sent to AIJHS upon publication must not have been previously published, published electronically, and sent to another journal for publication.

All manuscripts sent to our journal are first evaluated by the editorial board in terms of compliance with the journal's publication policies. The articles deemed appropriate are sent for peer review. The journal reviewers, which the editors will consider as the main element in the selection of manuscripts, are selected from external independent persons who are experts in their fields.

Our journal is international, double-blinded, peer-reviewed, and open access, and it is published three times a year, in April, August and December.

Articles submitted for publication in our journal should be prepared in accordance with the Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences (http://www.icmje.org/icmje-recommendations.pdf) "Writing Rules", based on the "Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals" guide.

Writing Rules
Form and Structure
Manuscripts submitted to the journal should be written in Microsoft Word program, on A4 paper size, on a page with 2.5 cm margins from all sides, in Times New Roman character, 12 points, double-spaced, in a single column and justified on both sides. The article should be written in a clear and understandable language, in Turkish or English. Except for the cover page, every page of the article should be numbered. Page numbers should be indicated at the bottom center, starting from the page on which the main text begins. All headings and subheadings should be written with the first letter of the word capitalized and numbered.

Symbols and Abbreviations
In Turkish articles, the spelling guide of the Turkish Language Association should be used. Instead of foreign words, Turkish words should be used as much as possible. Abbreviations can be used in the text, but in their first use, abbreviations should be used in parentheses following the explanations of the abbreviations. Cover Letter
The cover letter should include a description of the importance of the work and whether it has been published in any language, including the abstract, and whether the article is being considered for publication elsewhere.

Title Page
A separate title page containing the following information should be prepared and sent with the other files:
• The full title of the article (in Turkish and English),
• The short title of the article, with a maximum of 50 characters,
• All authors' names and surnames, academic titles, ORCID numbers, institution they work for, work phone-GSM, e-mail and correspondence addresses,
• Identification of the author responsible for the communication,
• A Letter of Acknowledgment for individuals who contributed to the preparation of the manuscript but did not fulfill the authorship criteria,
• Conflict of Interest Statement,
• Financial Support,
• The name, number and date of the Ethics Committee, if there is an Ethics Committee Approval Certificate received for the article.
• Statement of Authorship that all listed authors meet the authorship criteria and that all authors agree with the content of the article. In addition, the contribution of the authors should be indicated for each author under the title of Authorship Contribution.

Acknowledgements
Acknowledgments should be given in this section for all academic and/or technical assistance (Statistical Analysis, English/Turkish Evaluation) that contributed to the preparation of the manuscript but did not fulfill the authorship criteria.

Conflict of Interest Statement
Authors should identify all potential conflicts of interest in the article, including financial, advisory, institutional, and other relationships that may cause a conflict of interest. If there is no conflict of interest, this should also be clearly stated. In cases where there is no conflict of interest, the sentence “There is no conflict of interest in this study” should be written under the Conflict of Interest Statement.

Financial Support
This section should specify details of the funds received for the study, in particular the funding. If there is no financial support, the sentence below should be written: “No financial support was received in this study.”

Ethics Committee Approval
For original research, it should be stated in the Materials and Methods section that "Permission was obtained from the ethics committee". The name, number and date of the received ethics committee should be stated under the title of Ethics Committee Approval on the Title Page. A copy of the "Ethics Committee Approval Certificate" for research should be sent through the system.
For studies that do not require ethics committee approval, the sentence “Ethics committee approval is not required for this study” should be written both on the Title Page and in the Materials and Methods section of the study.

Statement of Authorship and Authorship Contribution
It should be noted that all authors listed with the Statement of Authorship meet the criteria for authorship and that all authors accept the content of the article. In the Authorship Contribution, which part of the work, including the idea/scope, design, supervision/consulting, data collection and/or processing, analysis and/or interpretation, literature review, writing the article, critical review, references stage, which authors how and to what extent. The author to whom the contribution is made should be indicated with the first letter of the surname.

Abstract
In the manuscript file with each article, there should be informative Turkish and English abstracts between 100-250 words. Abbreviations should not be used in the abstract. Summary; The research should be structured in such a way as to include the introduction, purpose, material and method, findings and conclusion sections. The Turkish and English abstracts must fully reflect the entirety of the article and must be compatible with each other in terms of content and language. The summary of the review article should briefly reflect the main points of the article.

Keywords
Keywords should be written in Turkish and English at the bottom of the abstract page, at least 3 and at most 5, and separated from each other by commas. Turkish keywords to Turkish Science Terms (TBT); ( www.bilimterimleri.com) and English keywords should be given in accordance with "Medical Subject Headings (MeSH)" (www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html).

Main Text
The types of articles to be accepted for publication in the journal are research articles, reviews, case reports and letters to the editor.
• Research Article: In this section, there are studies on basic or clinical research written in scientific format that present original researches in the field of Health Sciences and their results. These articles may include randomized controlled trials, observational studies, descriptive studies, diagnostic accuracy studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, nonrandomized behavioral and public health intervention trials, experimental animal trials, or any other clinical or experimental study. Such articles should not exceed 3500 words and should be written in accordance with ethical rules. Research Articles should be structured as Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Findings, Discussion, Conclusion and Suggestions and References.
• Review Articles: These are the studies in which the discussions on the subject and the views of the author/authors are put forward by using the national and international literature, in line with the current literature information on a certain subject in the field of Health Sciences and on the needed issues. Reviews should be structured as Abstract, Topics, Conclusion and Suggestions and References. Apart from these titles, it may also consist of different Sub-Titles of its own.
• Case / Case Reports: These are the studies that include cases that are rare on a particular subject, differ in diagnosis, treatment and care, or include significant clinical experience in the field. It should be supported by a sufficient number of photographs. Such articles should be written in accordance with ethical rules. Case Reports should be structured as Abstract, Introduction, Case Report, Discussion and References.
• Letter to the Editor: It is in the form of letters written to the editor for opinions, criticisms, contributions, questions about previously published articles in the journal or for experiences and thoughts on a different subject. The Letter to the Editor does not have Title and Summary sections. Such articles should not exceed 1000 words and should be written in accordance with ethical rules. The number of resources is limited to 10. The Name of the Article, the Number and Date of Publishing, and the Name, Institution and Address of the person who wrote the letter should be given.

Introduction
In this section, up-to-date information about the article should be given. The claims that constitute the subject of the study should be formed by taking into account the studies made in the past and should provide a clear explanation for the targeted question.

Materials and Methods
In this section, the place and time of the research, its universe and sample, data collection tools and methods, the ethical aspect of the research, statistical analyzes, and data evaluation should be given in detail.

Results
This section should include the research findings. Findings should be explained without comment. Data given in one table or figure should not be repeated in another table or figure and within the text. Tables, figures, graphics, and photographs should be sent in a separate file with their titles in the order of use, specifying their location in the text.

Discussion
The explanations in the introduction and findings section should not be repeated in this section. The results obtained should be discussed with the relevant, up-to-date literature.

Conclusion and Recommendations
The results obtained as a result of the study and the relevant recommendations in line with these results should be stated.

Limitations
Study limitations, if any, should be stated.

References in the Text
References should be numbered according to the order in the text and should be written in accordance with the Vancouver (http://www.osirjournal.net/old/upload/files/2013/VANCOUVER_Reference_guide.pdf) style. In articles written in Turkish with more than two authors, “ve ark.”, in articles written in English, it should be stated as “et al”. References in the text should be shown with Arabic numerals at the end of the sentence and in parentheses. References should be listed, with each reference used in the text correctly numbered.
For example; Evans et al. (2008)has been emphasized that .......................................... (21).
• If more than one source is cited, the references should be: (3,7,15-19).
• Personal experiences, unpublished publications, congress abstracts, theses and other unpublished materials should not be cited as sources.

Reference Writing
• References should be numbered in the References section at the end of the text, in the order they appear in the text. If the number of authors is 6 or less, the names of all authors should be written, if there are more than 6, the first 6 authors should be written, and the others should be written as "et al."
• Abbreviations of journal names should be made in accordance with ISI Web of Science.

Tables, Figures, Pictures and Graphics
• All tables and figures should be numbered sequentially according to the order of occurrence in the text.
• All tables and figures should be numbered sequentially according to the order of occurrence in the text. Table and figure captions should be written left-justified with the first letter capitalized (For example; Figure 2) and no abbreviations should be used (For example; Fig. 2).
• When the width of the images is set to 8 cm, their resolution should not be less than 18 pixels/cm. Pictures should be scanned at 300 dpi resolution and sent in jpeg format.

Other Issues to Consider
• Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion sections should be written with relevant subtitles.
• Sub-titles should be used up to the third degree at most.
• All headings and subheadings should be written with the first letter of the word capitalized and numbered.Main headings should be written in bold and left-aligned in all capital letters, second-degree headings should be written in bold and left-aligned with the first letter capitalized, third-degree headings should be written in bold with the first letter capitalized, and then the article should be continued by placing a colon.
• Research articles and reviews up to 15 pages (excluding title page, abstracts, references, tables and figure legends), case reports up to 8 pages (including title page, titles, abstracts, references, tables and figure legends), and letters to the editor at most should be no more than 2 pages (including references).
• References should be from recent years and the number of references should be a maximum of 40 for research articles, a maximum 50 for reviews, a maximum 20 for case reports, and a maximum of 10 for letters to the editor.
• The Maximum number of tables should be 4 and the number of figures should be a maximum of 6.
• All articles should be carefully checked for Turkish and English grammar and spelling rules.
• The final version of the article should be carefully examined, especially for spelling and formatting errors.

Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences is a peer-reviewed journal and its publication processes are based on the impartial production, development, and sharing of information produced by scientific methods in accordance with ethical and scientific standards. The ethical, scientific, and legal responsibility of the articles published in the journal belongs to the author(s) and does not reflect the views of the editors and editorial board members.
Manuscripts submitted for publication in the journal must not have been previously published elsewhere or sent for publication. Studies that have been presented in congresses before should be mentioned in the "Cover Letter". If the article includes some of the topics in a previously published article by the author(s), this should also be stated in the "Cover Letter" and a copy of the previous article should be uploaded to the journal page along with the new reference files.
The names of people, institutions, or organizations that do not meet the authorship criteria but contributed to the study can be included in the "Acknowledgements" section. In studies supported by research projects (BAP, BAKA, European Union, Tübitak, etc.), the project name, number, and supporting institution/organization should be stated.
For all prospective and retrospective studies, whether interventional or non-interventional, performed on humans or animals, the required “Ethics Committee Approval” should be obtained and the date (Day.Month.Year) of the Ethics Committee Approval should be stated on the Title Page. In addition, a copy of the "Ethics Committee/Commission Approval" should be sent to the journal. For studies that do not require ethics committee approval, "Ethics committee approval is not required for this study." sentence should be written.
All research protocols with humans are subject to the “World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki” (Ethical Principles for medical research involving human subjects; https://www.wma.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/) 11/DoH-Oct2013-JAMA.pdf) should be appropriate. For experimental studies in humans, a statement should be included stating that the volunteers signed a written informed consent form with a detailed description of the procedures performed.
In experimental animal studies, authors should state that the procedures followed to comply with animal rights in the “Guidelines for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals” (Access:http://oacu.od.nih.gov/regs/guide/guide.pdf). In studies conducted on animals, it is obligatory to obtain permission from the "Animal Experiments Local Ethics Committee" and to send a copy of the relevant document to the journal when deemed necessary.

Publication Ethics
Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences publication ethics and open access policy has been established in line with the guidelines and policies published by the Publication Ethics Committee in "Committee on Publication Ethics" (COPE).
Our journal has the right to request the output files of the analysis results from the authors according to the evaluations made by the editorial board and/or the reviewers. If the data used in the studies are distorted, manipulated, or used in fabricated data, our journal will inform the institution where the article author is working, through official ways, and the article will be rejected.

Publisher's Ethical Responsibilities
The Editors and Editorial Board of Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences act with the awareness of the following ethical responsibilities:
• Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences editors are responsible for all processes of the studies submitted to the journal, regardless of economic or political gains. They undertake to create an independent editorial decision.
• Artuklu undertakes to keep a record of every published copy by protecting the property and copyright of every article published in the International Journal of Health Sciences.
• It has the responsibility to take precautions against all kinds of scientific abuse, citation fraud, and plagiarism regarding the editors.

Editors' Responsibilities
Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences Editors (Editor, Assistant Editors, Field Editor, Editorial Board) are responsible for each article submitted to the Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences, including all the processes after its publication.
The responsibilities of the Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences editors are as follows:
• Considering only the public interest in the decisions made about the journal; to decide independently
• To take all decisions independently of the publisher and other individuals and organizations, in accordance with the relationship between the Publisher and the Editors based on the principle of independence,
• To strive for the continuous development of the journal and the improvement of its publication quality,
• To determine and implement journal policies such as publication, blind reviewing, evaluation process, ethical principles,
• Ensuring that all published articles are evaluated by qualified reviewers appropriately (including statistical evaluation when necessary),
• To protect the copyright of the authors of the articles published in the journal,
• To take relevant precautions on intellectual property rights, unscientific-unethical behaviours, plagiarism, and citation gangs during the publication process of articles and journals,
• To prepare the "Author's Guide", which aims to meet the information needs of the author(s), and the "Reviewer's Guide" containing the information that the reviewers will need during the evaluation phase,
• To keep the records of each article and correspondence about the journal electronically or in print,
• To determine policies that motivate reviewers-authors when necessary.
Ethical

Responsibilities of Reviewers
Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences is conducted with the principle of double-blinded reviewing. In this system, where the reviewers do not communicate directly with the authors, and the reviewers forward the article evaluation forms, notes on the text, and correction requests to the authors via the journal management system through the editor.
In this context, the reviewers who will review the articles submitted to the Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences are expected to have the following ethical responsibilities:
• Agreeing to evaluate only studies related to the field of expertise,
To assess with impartiality and confidentiality,
• Destroying the studies they have examined after the evaluation process, as per the confidentiality principle, since they can only use the final versions of the studies they have reviewed after they have been published,
• Refusing to evaluate the article when they understand that there is a conflict of interest, informing the journal editor,
• Making the evaluation objectively only regarding the content of the study,
• Not allowing nationality, gender, religious beliefs, political beliefs, and commercial concerns to affect the evaluation,
• To conduct the assessment constructively and courteously, in accordance with academic etiquette. Avoiding insulting, hostile personal comments,
• To carry out the work they have accepted for evaluation within the given time and with the ethical responsibilities above.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
The publication processes implemented in Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences aim at the development and distribution of information impartially and respectably. The processes implemented in this direction are directly reflected in the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support the authors. All stakeholders of the process (authors, readers, and researchers, publisher, reviewers and editors) must comply with the standards for ethical principles.
The author(s) applying for an article to the Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences are expected to comply with the following ethical responsibilities:
• Studies submitted to the journal are expected to be original. To cite completely and accurately if the author(s) benefit from or use other works,
• Not specifying as authors those who do not contribute intellectually to the content in the creation of the work,
• Not requesting to change the author order of an article applied for publication, to remove an author, to add an author, etc.,
• To explain the situations and relationships that may constitute a conflict of interest, if any, of all the works submitted for publication,
• In case information or raw data about their articles are requested from the author(s) during the evaluation process; the authors are ready to present the expected data and information to the editorial board and scientific committee,
• To have a document showing that they have the right to use the data used, the necessary permissions for research/analysis, or that the test subjects' consent has been obtained,
• Informing the journal editor or publisher, in case of noticing a mistake or mistake regarding his/her published, early view or evaluation stage work, and cooperating with the editor in correction or withdrawal processes,
• Not to include studies in the application process of more than one journal at the same time,
• Not submitting a study published in another journal to Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences.

Plagiarism and Unethical Behaviors
According to the Interuniversity Board Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive, actions against scientific research and publication ethics are as follows:
• Plagiarism: To present the original ideas, methods, data or works of others as one's own work, in whole or in part, without attribution in accordance with scientific rules,
• Forgery: Using non-existent or falsified data in scientific research,
• Distortion: To falsify research records or data obtained, to present devices or materials that are not used in the research as if they were used, to falsify or shape the research results in line with the interests of the people and organizations that receive support,
• Republishing: Presenting duplicate publications as separate publications for academic appointments and promotions,
• Slicing: To present these publications as separate publications in academic appointments and promotions by dissecting the results of a research in a way that violates the integrity of the research and in an inappropriate way, and publishing it in more than one issue,
• Unfair Authorship: Including people who have no active contribution among the authors or not including those who do, changing the order of authors in an unjustified and inappropriate way, removing the names of those who contributed actively from the work in subsequent editions, using his influence to include his name among the authors, although he has no active contribution,
• Not specifying the people, institutions or organizations that support them and their contributions in the publications made as a result of the research carried out with support,
• Using the thesis or studies that have not yet been presented or defended and accepted as a source without the permission of the owner,
• Not complying with patient rights in their publications,
• To violate the provisions of the relevant legislation in human biomedical research or other clinical research,
• To share the information contained in a work assigned to review with others before it is published without the express permission of the author,
• To misuse the resources, places, facilities and devices provided or allocated for scientific research,
• To publish the data obtained without the explicit consent of the participants in surveys and attitude studies conducted within the scope of a scientific study or, if the research will be conducted in an institution, without obtaining the permission of the institution,
• In research and experiments; to harm animals and the ecological balance, not to obtain written permissions from the authorized units before starting the work, to carry out studies contrary to the provisions of the legislation or international conventions to which Turkey is a party, regarding relevant research and experiments,
• Failure to comply with the obligation of researchers or authorities to inform and warn those concerned about possible harmful practices related to scientific research,
• Not to use the data and information obtained from other individuals and institutions in scientific studies, to the extent and in the manner permitted, not to comply with the confidentiality of this information and not to ensure its protection.

Reporting Situations That do not Comply with Ethical Principles
In case of encountering any behavior or content in Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences regarding Editors, Reviewers, Authors other than those mentioned or mentioned above, that does not comply with ethical principles, it should be reported to aijhs@artuklu.edu.tr via e-mail.

Plagiarism Policies
Plagiarism, whether intentional or not, is an ethical violation. The similarity of studies with other sources without reference and publishing them in this form is not only unethical but also a crime and unacceptable. For this reason, in all the works submitted to the Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences for publication, studies that have completed the blind review evaluation are evaluated for plagiarism at the preliminary examination stage. Works with a similarity report of more than 20% are rejected by the editorial board. The similarity report is obtained from intihal.net, turnitin.com, or ithenticate.com. References and expressions in quotation marks are not taken into account in the calculation of the similarity ratio.

Our criterion in the studies is not the percentage of the match. An audit is carried out by a team of experts, depending on the parameters other than the percentage, such as matching paragraphs, proper citations and references, the place of the matched places in the article, and which source the study matches with. The plagiarism report prepared is forwarded to the relevant editor of the study. According to the report, the editorial board may ask the author to correct the errors in the article and send it again or accept or reject it. Whether the work is accepted or not is at the discretion of the expert editor.

The Editorial Board can act in accordance with the COPE rules in the face of allegations and suspicions of plagiarism, citation manipulation, and data fraud regarding the studies submitted to the journal.

Copyright
Studies submitted to the Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences for publication via the online system must be original works that have not been published in any way or sent for publication elsewhere. When the author/s submit their work, it should be clearly stated in the Copyright Form that it has not been published before, has not been accepted for publication, and is not currently under evaluation for publication elsewhere, and this statement must be approved by each author. Papers that have not been published in the congress book in full text can be evaluated in the journal, provided that they are stated in writing.

The authors agree to waive the copyright of their work and must transfer the copyright of their work to Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences together with the submission for evaluation. This transfer becomes binding with the acceptance of the article for publication. No part of the printed cloth can be used elsewhere without the written permission of Artuklu International Journal of Health Sciences.

The publication processes of the journal are carried out in accordance with the guidelines the International Medical Journals Editorial Board (ICMJE), the World Medical Editors Association (WAME), the Scientific Editors Council (CSE), the Editorial Ethics Board (COPE), the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) and the National Information Standards Organization (NISO).

All unregistered rights of the authors other than patents, copyrights, the right to reproduce the work for their own purposes, provided that they do not sell the work, the right to use all or part of the work in their own books and other academic works, provided that the source is cited, on their personal websites provided that the work tag is indicated, or the right to have it in the open archive of the university, are reserved.

Authors must obtain permission from the copyright holder when using previously published content, including ancillary images, tables or any other content in print or electronic format. The legal, financial and penal responsibility of this matter belongs to the authors.

Authors who will send work to our journal must fill in the "Copyright Form" document. The author(s) must sign the completed form with a wet signature. The signed form should be scanned and uploaded via the system with the option to upload additional files in the work submission steps.

Conflict of Interest
Situations that provide economic or personal benefits create a conflict of interest. Financial relationships are the most easily identifiable conflicts of interest and it is inevitable that they damage the credibility of the journal, the authors, and the science. The reliability of the scientific process and published articles is directly related to the objective handling of conflicts of interest during the planning, implementation, writing, evaluation, editing and publication of scientific work.

Authors should disclose any potential conflicts of interest in the article, including financial, advisory, corporate, and other relationships that may lead to bias or conflict of interest. If there is no conflict of interest, this should be clearly stated.

In order to avoid conflicts of interest, editors should also avoid bringing together people who may have a relationship during the evaluation of studies. These editors, who make the final decision on the articles, should not have any personal, professional or financial ties to any of the issues they will decide on. Individuals should inform the editorial board of possible conflicts of interest so that the articles can be evaluated within the framework of ethical principles and an independent process can be carried out.

If any financial (cash-in-kind) support is provided to the submitted research, the authors should explain whether they have a relationship of interest with the institutions providing this support, what kind of relationship they have (institution/organization, type of support) and should indicate at the bottom of the title page.
